SDOC Releases Hurricane Make-up Days
On September 21, 2017 the School District Of Osceola County (SDOC) released information on the county website about two days that were added to the 2017-2018 school calendar due to Hurricane Irma. The two make-up days are Friday, December 22 and Friday, May 25.

"I'm fine with making up those days, as long as it helps my grades in the long run," Angelina Kidd ('21) said.

The students of Osceola High seem to be ill-informed on the days that they are making up

"I didn't hear any word of what was happening these days," Trent Purcell ('21) said.

"According to a statement on the district website, additional days for students will allow for "clean endings" on Fridays for both first and second semester." Some students like Kidd think that this statement is correct.

"I agree because its giving back the days that students missed. This is giving them a chance to do their work," Kidd said.

Some students however, think that this statement is false such as Purcell.

"I don't agree because its so close to the end of the year, students will be checked out," Purcell said.

The makeup days also changed the teachers planning schedule.

"At this time, it is a bit early to determine if I will be here for both of the days during my Christmas break," Mrs Stacy Cerda (FAC) said.
