Academy of Hospitality & Tourism

10/24/17
Good afternoon Kowboy family!

I wanted to share some information about our amazing NAF Academy here at Osecola High School. Our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism was first established in 2014. We are proudly in our fourth year of membership with NAF. We are currently the only up and running NAF academy in Osceola County who are producing NAF certified students. We have accomplished so much in a short period of time. Our future is bright and our students are ready to accept any challenge that crosses their path.

NAF has an amazing Educational Design that consists of four educational elements that has ignited our student's passion for learning, and has given them an opportunity to make a major impact in the workforce. The four educational elements are; Academy Development & Structure, Curriculum & Instruction, Advisory Board, and Work-Based learning.

We currently have two extraordinary Hospitality teachers; Valerie Woodring and Hugo Reis. They are working extremely hard to make sure that our students are career and college ready. Please take a look at the attached power point presentation to learn more about our NAF AOHT Academy. If you know any students who will be interested in Hospitality and Tourism please encourage them to enroll into the Hospitality program.

Sincerely,

Shaquana Morgan

What is NAF?

OHS Academy of Hospitality & Tourism is part of the National Academy Foundation (NAF). NAF provides a rigorous, industry-validated career-themed curriculum that incorporates current industry standards and practices, literacy strategies, and STEM integration. The students at OHS have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in our student-run banquet facility, learning skills such as: scheduling, banquet serving and set-up, culinary arts, and event planning.

Business people guest speak in classrooms, host college and career skills workshops, and take part in mock interviews. Students have the opportunity to tour worksites, network with, and shadow business professionals. Work-based learning culminates in an internship that allows students to apply their classroom skills and learn more about what it takes to succeed.

We currently have some of the biggest, well-known hotel properties in the surrounding area working with us on a continuous basis to provide for the best training and experience available. Click the link for more information
